Description
(lyrics below)
This has been by far, the most emotionally devastating song I've ever written. Writing these lyrics, holding these images in my head, following this child from birth to the quite literal end.. it's been hard to focus and not just lose my sh*t altogether. Every time I saw those children suffer, cry, starve, heard the countless stories, including ones with people getting shot while trying to get to those scarce food trucks. Then hear people calling it all a lie.
I know this will be hard for some people to hear, but these things need to be said.. if this song breaks your heart, as it did as I was writing it, as it did multiple times.. then, in a way, I'm glad.. we can then start having those difficult conversations that matter..
I don't care what your race or religion is. I don't care about your ideologies. Children deserve our best. They deserve a fair world, a nurturing and deeply caring world. A world that will keep them safe, happy and able to be simply children. No child should ever suffer, no child should ever starve. None. Zero.
This is my way of saying what I felt needed to be said.. in a way I know how to speak..
Thank you for listening..

Gaza Lullaby
Little hands reach for the sky
A soft smile gazing up
Gentle eyes look at you
Happy little specks of blue
Sleep now, my little one
Dream of dreams so true
Happiness is but a morning away
Never will you ever feel blue
Iron nourishments fall like rain
A million souls for crumbs of grain
Small hands reaching through the pain
Tell me this is not all in vain
My heart burns
Tongue cut out
What did they do to you
My sad little one
My mind turns
Food without
Why do they hate you so
Dear little one
Little hands now search for bread
Bright eyes dimming, hope near dead
Small voice whispers "I am strong"
How did everything go so deeply wrong?
Rest now, my little one
(Your small hands, growing smaller)
Dream while you still can
(Foaming mouths, growing louder)
How do I sing you to sleep
When there's no promise I can keep
How do I tell you it's alright
When they steal your morning light
My voice cracks
Words turn to dust
Where is the world for you
Forgotten little one
My hands shake
Love's not enough
When will this nightmare end
Lost little one
They take so much from you
Leave no hope for tomorrow
What evil could these small hands do
All they ever had was sorrow
They aim their sights at you
Down the iron nourishments lay
A million souls for barely a dozen bites
No bullets gone astray
Little hands wave at the line
Bright smile saying "We'll be fine"
Small voice cheers the ones behind,
(Shots. Pain.) Panicked eyes, gone blind.
(Sleep now, little one...)
(There is no morning sun...)
(Sleep now, little one...)
(There is no morning sun...)
(Sleep now, little one...)
(There is no morning sun...)
(Sleep now, little one...)
(There is no morning sun...)
