Recorded in 1923 "Guitar Rag" by Sylvester Weaver brought the guitar to the forefront rather than a backing instrument. Guitar Rag helped launch the new wave of guitar blues that swept the Nation in the 20's-30's. Country/Hillbilly artists Ron Harvey & Jesse Johnson recorded their version in 1929 which ultimately led to the songs hijacking as a Western Swing classic when Bob Wills released "Steel Guitar Rag" in 1936, crediting Leon McAuliffe as the writer of the song.
